Death & Taxes

2 macabre things to ponder on a sunny day and this sunny today is the return of that grim specter of tax deadline day. Another year, another time around!
This year I used Turbo Tax and it worked like a charm! It is very easy to use and takes you through all the steps and helps you understand the process: what is taxed, what can be deducted, depreciation, alternate taxes-all kinds of fun stuff. There were years that I would sit down petrified with fear and try to go through the paperwork of filing. No longer! It was very affordable ($99) and submitted my federal and state documents electronically (for about $30 each) when I was ready. It was a lot better than the $400+ I spent the year previously going to H&R Block, which felt really like they essentially filled out TurboTax while I sat there and gave them my numbers.
The bright side of going through all my finances for tax-time was getting to see where all the spending is happening: wool, wool, wool, shows and endless trips to the nearby hardware store. Surely, from the looks of the receipts, I have earned a dedicated parking spot!
