At this time, I offer 1 feltmaking class: an introductory course that covers all the basics of feltmaking. The classes I offer are private lessons taught at my feltmaking studio in the Dogpatch area in San Francisco. Class costs cover materials and private one-on-one instruction. Private lessons work better for us both, allowing for flexibility in scheduling and for the considerable personal attention given to each student to ensure a successful experience. For more information or to schedule a class, contact harlequinfelt@gmail.com
UPDATE: We’re still getting settled in in Oakland and there are no public classes currently in the works. If you have a particular project in mind (needle felt, wet felt, nuno felt) that you would specifically like to learn in more detail, I’d be happy to work out the details of a home lesson (yours or mine). Contact harlequinfelt@gmail.com.

About the instructor:
Jenne Giles is an accomplished felt maker & mixed media artist who has worked intensively with wool since 2005. Jenne background in the fine arts, fashion, craft & design, as well as training in the trades, lend a multi-disciplinary approach to feltmaking. Jenne earned a degree in Art & Art History from Rice University (Houston, TX). Her art work has been featured in numerous publications including Ornament Magazine and the Leonardo Journal (MIT Press), and her felt fashions, sold under the label Harlequin Feltworks, are popular at many fine shops. She is the author of Felt Fashion: Couture Projects from Garments to Accessories (Quarry, 2010). All of this experience is blended together to bring a holistic, open-minded perspective to working with the ancient and multi-form medium of wool and felt-making.
RE: Feltmaking Classes San Francisco Bay Area
Class 1: BASIC FELTMAKING 4 hours $200
A Soup to Nuts of Beginning Felt Skills. Learn the basics of felting with wool: wet felting (all-wool), nuno techniques (felting with fabric) as well as needle felting. Learn about set-up, tools, materials, and fundamental techniques. Experience felting by hand, rolling by hand and felting on a rolling machine. Cost includes materials.
(Can be split into Basic Wet felting (2 hours $100) and Basic Nuno Felting (2 hours $100), though I strongly recommend taking them in one class, as they are intricately related)
