We’re Dying!

Dying wool that is!  It is such a joy to work with the colors directly, but takes a gentle touch and not too much jostling of the wool or it gets pre-felt and hard to use.  I’ve been using Gaywool Dyes which have worked well with color brightness and fastness as well as with the limited ventilation of the studio (speaking of which-we just got a new HEPA air purifier which claims to get the air 99.9% icky-free, so far I’ve noticed less nose congestion which I think is due to overexposure to soap).  I am going to start experimenting with the ProChem MX Dyes, which require use of more caustic chemicals-which I’d much prefer to be doing with more air-flow all around.  I got a great book called Indigo, Madder & Marigold which describes natural dyestuffs which look very fancy.  Last but not least, I’d like to try dying with Kool-Aid which I hear makes great colors!  (What does it do to our insides!?!)
